a bit about me
Throughout my life, I have been conscious of our environment. I greatly enjoy the outdoors and try to live my life making a small footprint. I believe it is important to be aware of social issues and do our part to support what is right. As a visual communicator, I have the tools to persuade and encourage action. It is important to me that my craft is in line with my values and therefore I seek clients in the realm of environmental and social awareness.
WORK
Born and raised in Minnesota, I escaped the bitter cold in sunny Arizona. In 1999 I earned a BFA from the University of Arizona. While concentrating in graphic design, I also focused on art history, painting and ceramics. Experiences within my career have brought me many rewards. I’ve been part of a creative team within an advertising agency, worked with an international product company (NIKE), and operated a small design business, which is my current work. My other creative outlet is painting with oils, acrylics, and watercolor. I’m
fortunate to have a studio space that is shared with other artists.
PLAY
Pretty much anything outdoors and human powered: cycling; hiking; climbing; skiing; kayaking; camping; swimming; yoga; and hanging with my dog. Gardening and cooking is also a passion of mine (although the desert makes for some difficult conditions). I love to travel and experience different cultures and habitats.
FAMILY
With 3 brothers and 1 sister I’ve learned how to share at an early age. My brothers taught me how to be tough, while my sister gave me my first true friendship. Mother encouraged interest in gardening and respect for the planet. Father offered the tools to fix things (he’s a mechanic and wood turner). I’ve been married 7 years, no children but one very big dog named Rocky.
RESIDENCE
Currently I reside in Tucson, Arizona. In the recent past I had the pleasure of living in Portland, Oregon; Santa Rosa, California; and good ol Minnesota (my roots).
